Introduction

Login pane
  1. See image A. Type in a Username. Use a nickname not your real name. You must use only one username and gender to avoid misleading others. The name must follow the guidance shown when you start typing. If you make a small mistake in a registered name, it is corrected automatically. If the name is not available, you receive an error when you try to log in. Do not use more than one name (unless you forgot your password), this is misleading, may receive a warning and is liable to get you booted or banned. See below how to change your username.
  2. You are prompted to set a password to comply with UK law, either on first entry or after a couple of logins, it is no longer possible to remain a guest. Type in a Password to set it the first time. The password must follow the guidance shown when you start typing. You need the password for subsequent logins, so take care typing it and keep note of it. If you later enter the wrong password, the login fails with an error. If you forget your password, log in with a similar name, say you have forgotten your password and the old name in the profile interests and ask a moderator to help as soon as you see one, see below. Until a password is set, anyone could use the account, pretend to be you, change the data and features are heavily restricted. See below how to change your password.
  3. It is sadly necessary to use a checking service for initial and guest entry without a password (if available) to stop trolls and pedophiles. Entry may be prevented if disguised by proxy, VPN or TOR, or from unverified or compromised sources. Initial and guest entry without a password (if available) may need to be suspended sometimes, including if the checking service daily limit is reached.
  4. To change your password, click the change link. Put your old password in the Password box and your new one in the New password box that appears. Your password is only changed if the old one is correct, otherwise the login fails. You receive confirmation of the change. You may change password whenever you wish. If you forget your password, log in temporarily with a similar username, say you have forgotten your password and the old name in the profile interests and ask a moderator to help as soon as you see one. The moderator will remove your original account password. As soon as this is done, you must then log in again with the original username and set a new password in the Password box. The temporary name will then be deleted.
  5. To change your username, click the change link. Put your old username in the Username box and your new one in the New username box that appears. You receive confirmation of the change or an error if the name is not available. Data is copied from the previous username, including any private message restrictions so you cannot avoid these. Your new username profile shows your previous username(s) so others are not misled. You may only change username twice and old username(s) are blocked so cannot be used again.
  6. Solve the captcha and type in the answer or click the images with pee or wet patches. If the captcha is not suitable for you, click change to get another. If this is answered wrongly, a holding page is shown to deflect spam bots.
  7. You can check who else is online, shown just under the Log in button, before logging in. You do not need to log in to check. This avoids the need to leave again quickly, which annoys other users and may result in you having to wait before logging in again.
  8. If you want to be prompted before navigating away from the Pool to avoid doing this by accident and your browser allows this, check the Prompt to leave box. The default is not to prompt to allow quick exit, so you need to do this each login.
  9. You can select a dark theme with dark background and light text by checking the Dark theme box. This Pool theme is applied immediately and to other pages on the website if your browser settings allow local storage, otherwise it can only be applied after login. If you have not set a Pool theme, the dark theme is applied automatically if requested by your browser settings. Most browser plugins that attempt to create a dark theme automatically damage the site look, usability and accessibility, so it is better to disable these for this site and use the inbuilt Pool dark theme. Once you have entered, light and dark themes can be selected using the text colour pane (see below).
  10. You can turn on sounds by checking the Sounds on box. You will then hear system sounds for user entry and when receiving a private message, for example. Some emoticons have associated sounds and posts can contain sounds. You need to do this each login.
  11. You may wish to disable the Enter key from taking action if you tend to press it by accident on small devices like phones with a virtual keyboard. To do this, check the Enter key off box. You need to do this each login.
  12. You can navigate between fields using Tab key, Enter key (unless disabled), mouse or by tap. With a mouse, hints are displayed on hovering over fields, otherwise when you start typing. Click or tap the Log in button. If this is successful, you are shown your profile, otherwise an error message explains the problem you need to correct.
  13. On your first login, you are required to provide your age, can choose whether to show this to other users, then must confirm your age and that use of the site is legal where you are. This is necessary to comply with UK law to protect children from online harms. Users must provide their actual age, be aged 18 or more and there is zero tolerance of chat about experiences or people under 18, otherwise you may be banned for life. On your second login, you may be required to choose a user icon and complete your Interests. An account with a password is not fully registered until these are set, shows as a guest, features are restricted, is liable to be deleted sooner if unused and some users will not chat with you. See Profile and settings.
  14. Usernames that are no longer being used are cleared after a few days if they have no icon nor interests so were only used once, after a few weeks if they have no password (if that is available), after a few months if they were fully registered and used for under a year and after a few years if they were fully registered and used for over a year.
  15. People are more likely to chat with you if you indicate your Gender and describe your Interests. Pool pee chat is gender friendly, so non-binary and fluid are ok, but you may not mislead people by changing gender nor have different usernames with different genders. If you are gender fluid, put that in Gender then, if you wish, you can indicate your current gender in your status. Interests that are against the Pool rules or illegal in the UK may result in automatic booting and banning.
  16. You can put a very short temporary status in the I am… box, which is shown beside your username in the Users list. How long it can be depends on your username, if it is cut off nobody can see the rest, so you need to shorten it. It can include emoticons, entered like in Main chat. If you set a status, it is shown in the Users list and can be changed by clicking the link there, which prompts for a new status, or by including a command in a post, like {status: whatever} or {status: {smile}} (a space is needed after status:).
  17. Click the Enter chat button to save any changes to your profile and enter the Main chat. If you just enter repeatedly or frequently without chatting much, which is annoying for other users, you may be asked to wait before you can log in again. Only users behaving like this are affected, not otthers having connection issues. The waiting period is longer if you enter and leave quickly without chatting at all, which is very annoying and pointless as you can check recent users listed below the Log in button without logging in.

Main chat

Main chat Small device view Emoticon selection
  1. On most devices, chat opens with the Users list in a left hand pane and the Main chat in a right hand pane. See image B. If the display window is too narrow for this, typically on smart phones held in portrait mode, the display will re-arrange automatically so the Users list is above the Main chat, allowing you to scroll up and down between the two. See image C. If arranged vertically, you can adjust the proportion of screen allocated to each pane slightly. You may find it easier to turn the device to landscape mode.
  2. Below the Users list are the rotating Pool announcements about new features, issues, rules and Pee Events, for example. There are also links that open in new tabs or windows for this Pool guide, Pool extras and Pool links to user and other websites.
  3. Post in the Main chat by typing in the main text entry box then press Enter or click or tap the Send button. You need to post properly within 3 minutes of entering otherwise it is assumed you looked in, left again and you will be timed out quickly.
  4. Short text in posts between asterisks like *bold* shows as bold and between underscores like _italic_ shows as italic.
  5. Emoticons can be added by clicking the emoticon button before the main text entry box. This opens the emoticon panel in the left (or top) pane. See image G. Click an emoticon to add it to the text entry box and close the panel or click the Close button not to enter an emoticon. The emoticon name, any alternative(s) and character combination(s) are shown by hovering a mouse over the emoticon or by clicking the Show codes button. Standard character combinations and emoticon names in curly brackets can be typed directly in the text, for example :) and {smile}. Additional emoticons not listed can only be shown by typing them in curly brackets. To show all the emoticons under the main text entry box, click the Show emos button and to remove them click the Show off button in the emoticon panel. When shown, emoticons can be added by clicking them, as shown in image G. When sounds are turned on (see Profile and settings), these play when emoticons with associated sounds are used, shown with a green border and a sound mark in the top left corner. Only users with sounds turned on hear them when they receive posts containing them.
  6. Sounds associated with standard emoticons like {tinkle} play automatically for users with sounds turned on. The poster can prevent this by adding - like {splash-}. Additional emoticons not listed only play any associated sounds if + is added like {zebedee+}. Available sounds can also be played without an emoticon like {s: flush} or {sound: hiss}. The space after the : is needed to avoid being confused with a character emoticon.
  7. If you mention another user by preceding their name (or a unique part of it) with an at sign like @Look for Looking Around in the Main chat, that post shows highlighted with a coloured background for you and to the user mentioned but shows normally for other users. The highlighted post is also shown in any private chat (PM) the mentioned user has open so they are aware of being mentioned in the Main chat. You cannot mention a user in PM or if PM would be blocked, either by your or their choice, or automatically.
  8. You can add emojis from other apps subject to the Pool settings, so long as they are in recognised character ranges. For example, in Windows hold down the Windows key and press the . (full stop / period) key, while most smartphones support emoji entry.
  9. The chat scrolls automatically to show the latest posts unless you have scrolled up to read earlier posts. Automatic scrolling resumes when you scroll back to the bottom of the chat.
  10. Only fully registered users and moderators may post web addresses, subject to the Pool settings, which are shown as links. When external links are clicked, a warning is displayed then, if clicked again within a few seconds, the link opens in a new browser tab or window. Links within the Pool site can be entered by preceding them with {link} and do not display a warning, for example, {link}images/penny-manners.jpg. Guests may not post links and are booted automatically if they try again, to protect against spam.
  11. Certain words are filtered in posts to reduce chat about topics not permitted and to stop the most offensive abuse. These are shown starred out, for example, sh∗∗∗. Using too many or all upper case (capital) letters ('shouting') is annoying and is changed automatically. You may also be booted and reported automatically if you use too many words likely to be outside the rules.
  12. If you believe a user post breaks the rules, you can report it by clicking the time at the start of the post. This prompts you to type a brief reason in the dialogue box that appears, then submit or cancel the report. Moderators can only take action based on evidence, so you need to report posts, not just complain about them as hearsay. Reporting still works if no Moderator is present, they are alerted next time they log in.
  13. Pool pee chat works by passing posts between users, there is no central list of those logged in and browsers may not advise when closed, so users have to be timed out when nothing is heard from them for a while. This can be because some devices like phones and browers stop background work to save battery power. Users are shown as away if not looking at the Pool after a short period, inactive if nothing has been received for about 10 minutes and are timed out after 20 minutes or so. Any post in Main or private chat will reset this, so will clicking the Refresh button, which also restarts communication and resets scrolling. Users are shown as left if they use the Leave chat button and, if the browser advises this, as closed if they closed the Pool tab or window.

Profile and settings

Profile edit User icon and text selection Profile view
  1. In the Users list, moderators are shown in bold with a blue background, fully registered users with a green background and guests (including partially registered users) in italic with an orange background.
  2. As much of any temporary status as there is room for shows beside the username in the Users list. If shown, click your status for a prompt to change this, see below.
  3. Click another user's icon or name in the Users list to view their profile. See image H. You can ask them to chat privately from their profile if that is available, otherwise there will be an explanation why not. See Private chat. If you are chatting privately, clicking their name switches to that chat, while clicking their icon opens their profile.
  4. Subject to the Pool settings, you can check Block PM requests by specific users or Ignore all posts by a limited number of specific users other than moderators. Blocking PM only hides their PM requests, while ignore hides all their posts, including chat in Main, although you will still see activities like entering and leaving. If you block PM with or ignore someone you are chatting with privately, that private chat closes. Block PM and ignore are stored so they continue to apply on future logins until and unless you change them in that user's profile by checking See all or your profile by clicking the link in the list of users blocked. If a blocked or ignored user changes username, these transfer to their new username.
  5. Click your own name in the Users list outside any status to edit your profile. This can also be done on login or by clicking the profile button before the main text entry box. Your profile opens in the left (or top) pane and can be edited. See image D. Click Save to save or Close to discard the changes.
  6. You can change the very short temporary status shown beside your username in the Users list by clicking it, which prompts for a new status, in the profile, by entering it in the I am… box, or by including a command in a post, like {status: whatever} or {status: {smile}} (a space is needed after status:). How long the status can be depends on your username, if it is cut off nobody can see the rest, so you need to shorten it. It can include emoticons, entered like in Main chat.
  7. In your profile, click the user icon to open the user icon panel. See image E. In the user icon panel, select whether the icon is for this session only or to save it in your profile (it is saved automatically the first time), then click an icon to select it or click the Cancel button not to change. The user icon panel can also be opened by clicking the user icon button to the left of the main text entry field. A user icon is required to be fully registered and you may be prompted to set one the second time you log in.
  8. In your profile, click the text colour block to open the text colour panel. See image F. In the text colour panel, select whether the colour is for this session only or to save it in your profile (it is saved automatically the first time, then click a text colour to select it or click the Cancel button not to change. There is also a checkbox to select light or dark theme (see Login). The text colour panel can also be opened by clicking the text colour button just to the left of the main text entry field. Pool software versions are also shown.
  9. Age provided on first login cannot be changed directly, but can be increased by one each year by checking the +1 box then Save. If you make a mistake so the wrong age is shown, tell a Moderator, who can delete the age so you will be required to enter it again next time you log in.
  10. Gender is optional. Pool pee chat is gender-friendly, you may choose your gender, non-binary and fluid are ok but you must stick with the gender you choose to avoid misleading other users (see Login).
  11. Interests are required to be fully registered and you may be prompted to enter them the second time you log in. Other users are more likely to chat with you if you tell them what your pee interests are. These can contain bold, italic, emoticons with or without sounds entered as character combinations or {names} and sounds entered as {s: sound}. Only users with sounds turned on hear them. Adult baby (AB), nappy / diaper lover (DL) and regression are permitted but not reference to you, anyone else nor experiences under age 18. Underage or illegal interests may be reported and may result in booting and banning forever.
  12. Select which types of users can invite you to chat privately using the Private messages radio buttons. Options are all users, which is the default, fully registered users only and nobody.
  13. Hints how to use Pool pee chat are displayed for a week after registering and for guests. Once turned off automatically, they may be turned on and off by clicking the Show hints checkbox in the profile.
  14. Sounds are turned off by default for safety and can be turned on and off by clicking the sound symbol to the left of the main text entry box. When sounds are off, the symbol shows a red cross. When sounds are on, they play when users enter chat, when you receive private messages and when posts are received containing sound emoticons (see Main chat).
  15. Some devices, particularly smart phones, and browsers stop background work to save battery power. This prevents regular Pool checks to pick up new posts and scrolling. If you no longer receive posts or scrolling stops working properly, click the Refresh button to restart communication and reset scrolling. If you use browser refresh rather than this button, you lose what is displayed and need to log in again.
  16. If you need to hide what you are doing quickly, click the main Hide (panic) button. This blanks the main Pool window and closes any separate chat windows. When the danger has passed, click the Restore button to restore the Pool window without losing what is displayed and text entry or needing to log in again.
  17. Please leave by clicking the Leave chat button rather then closing your browser as a courtesy to ensure other users are informed. If you checked Prompt before leave on login or leave within a minute, you receive a standard browser prompt to confirm this is not accidental.

Private chat

Private chat Private messages
  1. The ability to chat privately with another user (private message or PM) is one of the key features of Pool pee chat, but this must be with their consent, be respectful of them and respect their limits. If another user does not accept your request, you must not keep asking them again, either in this session or in future, as this is non-consensual, harassing and abusive. If you exceed PM request limits, have your PM blocked or you are ignored by multiple users, your PM requests will be limited automatically to stop this harassment. If you continue this abusive behaviour, you may no longer be able to PM and may be silenced, booted or banned.
  2. Because of harassment by a small number of predators, there are controls on PMs to protect other users. Guests and new users cannot request PM but may accept it. New registered users may only make a limited number of PM requests for a few days. Normal registered users may only make as many unanswered PM requests as they are allowed PMs (see below) and, after the first two, must wait 5 minutes between requests, to prevent bombarding users. There is an exception if you leave or close then enter again quickly, when you may request PMs that were open again immediately. Once you request a user to PM, if they do not accept, you cannot ask them again, nor for about 30 minutes after you leave, to prevent logging out and in to ask again. The other user5 may still request you to PM unless they already did so.
  3. There are also limits on PMs. Fully registered users may request and have up to 5 private chats at once while guests and new users may only have 1 requested by the other user. If the usual Ask to PM button is greyed out and labelled Cannot PM, the reason is shown, such as they do not PM with users of your type, one of you has reached a restriction or limit, or you already asked them and they did not accept. Private chats count towards limits until they are closed so, if you receive a message that the other user ended the chat, left or timed out, you can click the link in the message to return to that chat then click the End PM button to close it at your end too. This will be done automatically after a few minutes.
  4. Unanswered PM requests, PM blocks and being ignored (see Profile and settings) are stored and still apply when you log in again. No record is kept of accepted private chats after the current session. Users who have blocked PM with you or ignored you are not shown your PM requests and, if you reach the limit of 5 unanswered unwelcome requests to that user, your PM requests to them are blocked automatically. If you reach this limit by harassing 5 different users, you are blocked automatically from sending any PM requests. This may be reset at Christmas but, if your PM requests are then blocked automatically again, the block becomes permanent to prevent continued harassment.
  5. You invite another user to chat privately from their profile, opened by clicking their icon or username in the Users list, where the PM symbol shows which types of user may invite them to chat. See Profile and settings and image G. In their profile, whether you can invite them to chat is shown by the Ask to PM or Cannot PM button with a reason. You may optionally send a personal message by typing it in the main text entry box before clicking the Ask to PM button. This shows in your chat while the recipient gets a standard message and a Show message link they can click to show your personal message if they wish. See images J & K. The profile closes automatically a few seconds after a PM request.
  6. The recipient can respond to an invitation by clicking the Accept, Not now or Reject link after the invitation message. If the other user leaves or closes, enters and requests PM again while the PM is still open, a Resume link is shown instead. If the invitation is accepted, a private chat is opened for both users to chat with each other while, if resumed, the chat can continue without having to close and open it again. Clicking the other user's name in the Users list then switches to this private chat instead of opening their profile. To see their profile again, click their user icon. You can also switch between chats using the drop-down box by the main text entry box. This also shows which chat you are typing a message into. See image I. If the invitation is accepted or declined for now, this shows a message to both users, the PM is treated as welcome and any PM restrictions for this pair of users are lifted. If an invitation is rejected or ignored, no message is shown, this is treated as unwelcome and counts against the requester's PM limits.
  7. It is the recipient's choice whether they chat with you because this must be consensual. If they do not accept the invitation and you open their profile again, it shows they have not accepted and the button shows as Cannot PM, which it also does if other restrictions apply (not just for this user). You must not keep asking them again, either in this session or in future, nor is it acceptable for you to ask them again nor comment on their choice in the Main chat.
  8. Invitation, accept, resume, close, left and timed out messages for users you are chatting with privately are shown in all chats highlighted with a green background so you do not miss them. If another chat is selected and a private message arives, the PM symbol against that username in the Users list changes both its format and colour to indicate this and so does the symbol at the bottom of the list in case that user is scrolled out of view. See image L. The PM symbols change back when you switch to that chat. If sounds are enabled, a message sound is played when a private message is received.
  9. Either user in a private chat can end it by clicking the main End PM button. If one user ends the chat, leaves or times out, this will inform the other user and provide a link in other chats so the other user can switch to the chat and close it by clicking the End PM button to allow more private chats. See image M. Private chats are only closed automatically after a few minutes so the final messages can be read. Once both users have closed a private chat, either user can then invite the other to chat privately again.
  10. Moderators can open and close Rooms that all users can switch to by clicking them in the Users list or by using the dropdown by the main text entry box. These are highlighted in bold with a yellow / brown background and may be used for gatherings such as Pee Events and hold-it competitions, for example. Rooms remain available for a few minutes after being closed so the final messages can be read.
  11. Private chats and rooms can be opened in separate windows by clicking the Open window symbol in the top right hand corner of the chat. These windows show the chat and have a text entry box and Send button for posting to that chat. See image I. Separate chat windows cannot work in browser stealth modes like Firefox private and Chrome incognito as these prevent data passing between windows.
  12. Private chats and separate chat windows scroll automatically, posts have the same features and limitations as in the Main chat and may be reported in the same way if they break the rules.

Rules
